When is a "handicapped accessible" hotel room not handicapped accessible? What if you can manage to get in the room, but not use the bathroom? Would you find that acceptable? If you are in a wheelchair, you don't expect life to be simple, but you should be able t...

Hi - I am fortunate that my MS is also RRMS .. and it is my FMS that has been getting aid as I do use a cane , the baggage is the problem ..

But to address what we can do about places that seem sub-standard , is complain , to the hotel chain or local agencies .. even as a  guest , you should have ramps , push button door openers and of course up front parking , especially for wheelchair bound people ... sad .. but not uncommon ...

This is a great subject , and wish it would be or could be addressed on a forum where "we" , the actual MSer's can speak directly , face to face , with those in charge of making these laws .. and those who are suppose to be enforcing them ...

Instead we have "advocacy" .. all well and fine .. but they are to me like attorneys looking to just settle things .. not really fully understanding the long term impact their decisions that they make for all os us , don't always cover all of us .. am I making sense ...

So many times, I wished I could get infront of a judiciary hearing and speak , so many times i wished i could get in front of a general assembly meeting and speak .. ahhh, but time is always of the essence when it comes to those of us who fall into the "tween" disabilities ...

If we were deaf, blind , ambulatory ,mentally damaged or challenged , had diabetes, obesity or breast cancer , we may have a shot ... but we don't , hidden disability is frowned upon , chronic pain , MS , and similar disabilities are waved off like they are nothing ...

While making plans to go back to FL , I must have come across 7 out of 10 people, that either are related to or know someone with MS  (and with FMS) ... yet we are like still at the bottom of the chain ...

So, writing is all we can do, making the MS walks is important , and having any event that will spread the word has to continue to grow ! That is how we are going to get recognition ..

Thanks for your insightful post , and I know what you mean, as I have encountered these issues and usually voice and write my complaints upon arrival ... or departure ... shame ... but it is what we have to do, as no one is going to do it for us .. Adrian
